In 2003, the Irish Medicines Board forced GlaxoSmithKline to change patient information leaflets regarding paroxetine (Seroxat in Ireland, Paxil in the U.S.). They were no longer permitted to claim that the drug was "non-addictive" nor that it normalized serotonin levels in the brain.
